How did Grotech Production’s chemical liquid blending expertise help cardboard stainers in Ireland?
Chemical liquids have a wide range of uses and come in an equally diverse variety of formulations. At our purpose-built factory in Goole, we have an assortment of liquid mixing vessels including stainless steel, HDPE and polypropylene, enabling us to tailor our manufacturing processes to the chemicals being blended – whether they be aqueous solutions, emulsions and emulsion concentrates, suspensions or oil dispersions.
A brief from an existing customer of 16+ years saw us producing a red dye solution for one of their clients, who needed a specific concentration to stain cardboard. The project involved dissolving a particular red dye into a suitable acidic solvent – a task that sounds straightforward but proved anything but.
Getting all the dye into solution was a significant challenge. The highly staining nature of the dye, combined with the odorous and aggressive character of the solvent, made the blended product genuinely difficult to handle throughout the manufacturing process. It required careful process management and the kind of hands-on chemical knowledge that comes from decades of working with demanding formulations.
Our chemists and production team worked through those challenges, and some 2,000 litres of the finished product were produced and despatched to specification.
