WITH the UK slowly getting back to work with the easing of Lockdown restrictions, the focus at Grotech Production Ltd remains on ensuring it’s business as usual but in a safe, socially distanced way.
As bespoke contract manufacturers and packers to many sectors key to combatting coronavirus or, in the case of farming and agrochemical manufacturing, ensuring we will have food on our tables in the months ahead, remaining operational throughout this pandemic has been important.
But what has been equally essential is making sure our staff are properly protected and our employees and their families have got behind us in this with one operator’s wife creating Fred, our woolly Safety Bear who is helping to ensure we stay safe.
Safety tabards featuring Fred’s image and reminding us to keep our two metres distance from each other are now widely worn throughout the factory and we have been pacing out what that actually means in practical terms.
At the suggestion of another employee we have installed a new cycle rack to enable more people to avoid public transport and cycle to work. This is not only helping with regards to social distancing but is also good for the environment, personal fitness and a great way of enjoying the good weather and great outdoors.
Other ways we are trying to keep our people and visitors safe include:
- Introducing a drop off point outside the factory gates for post and courier deliveries;
- Implementing new procedures for lorry drivers, collections and deliveries;
- Enabling the majority of office staff to work from home;
- Practising social distancing at all times including while working on the shopfloor.
- Making our own hand sanitiser which is also available to employees to take home.
While Covid 19 looks like it is here to stay, at least for the short to medium term, it is important that we continue to live our lives and run our businesses in as safe a way as possible. This is something we are endeavouring to embrace at Grotech Production Ltd so that regular hand washing and keeping our distance becomes as much the norm as donning the correct PPE on the shopfloor.
