Greg’s Customer Service Training Journey
At Grotech Production, we value continuous learning, and our Production Planning Administrator, Greg, has been putting this into practice by taking on a City & Guilds Customer Service Level 2 course. With his role requiring careful planning and coordination, developing strong communication and problem-solving skills is a natural next step.
About Greg and His Role
Greg has been part of the Grotech team for over three years. His responsibilities include processing sales orders, scheduling production, and ensuring materials arrive on time, keeping everything running smoothly. His work is key to making sure orders are completed and dispatched efficiently.
Why Customer Service Training?
Greg chose this course because clear communication and strong problem-solving skills are essential in any role, particularly when working closely with colleagues, suppliers, and customers. The course, delivered by East Riding College, focuses on:
- Understanding business policies and procedures
- The role of customer service in an organisation
- Effective communication and handling different customer interactions
Applying New Skills at Grotech
Since starting the course, Greg has already found practical ways to apply what he’s learned. Stronger communication skills help him manage queries and issues more effectively, while the problem-solving techniques he’s developed allow him to resolve challenges more efficiently and keep production on track.
Challenges and Highlights
Fitting coursework around a full-time job has been one of the biggest challenges, with six hours of study required each week. Despite this, Greg has enjoyed gaining new insights, particularly in areas he hadn’t explored before, such as Service Level Agreements. As part of his learning, he also completed an Open University module on understanding customer needs, which he found especially useful.
The Impact on Grotech
Good customer service isn’t just about frontline interactions—it plays a role in every part of a business. Greg’s training is helping him to enhance efficiency, build better working relationships, and contribute to a smoother overall process. These skills are invaluable in ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, supporting Grotech’s commitment to high standards and excellent service.
Greg’s experience is a great reminder of the benefits of ongoing professional development. His advice for anyone considering similar training? Choose a course that connects with your role—it makes the learning much more relevant and rewarding.
