CHEMISTRY is like magic – after all, it’s no coincidence that Harry Potter did classes in potions as part of his wizard education at Hogwarts!
At Grotech Production Ltd we practice our own sort of magic. We work with clients who are magicians in their own right, conjuring up formulations that make flowers grow and produce bountiful crops.
While we are more than happy to mix and pack these formulations for them, we also have our own magicians who with their bespoke formulation services are wizard at performing magical chemistry to enable other clients to overcome issues with their own magic potions.
These issues might involve fertiliser liquids that are too thin and pale or liquids that leave a sticky sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Sometimes the solution lies in the order the ingredients are added or in the oxidation state of one of the compounds. The substitution of a surfactant can transform a floating layer on top into a uniform homogenous solution and with a magic ‘tweak’ we can adjust the colour, tune the pH and viscosity as required.
Powders and granules can also benefit from our magic touch. We can select a special ingredient to limit the oxidation of an active substance and reduce the likelihood of the bespoke blended powder clumping together to form a solid lump over time. Likewise, we can point you in the direction of different granules better suited to carrying a fragrance or active ingredient so leading to improved performance or a more environmentally friendly profile.
Every formulation is first tested by our inhouse wizards before mixing in production to ensure we know what to expect and what to avoid. We can also test for stability over time and can use a variety of analytical techniques to make sure our processes produce a consistent reliable product. Some of these techniques can also be applied during manufacture to ensure the product meets specification before we start to pack it.
In special cases, if a compound can’t be bought in the usual way, we work with other magicians to understand, develop and make it instead. This can take many months and also requires us to develop a way to prove that we have made ‘the right stuff’.
